Pignasecca market and the B and B Maria Marì

"Spaccanapoli"

Close to the B and B, there are numerous restaurants and pizzerias where you can taste the typical Neapolitan cuisine and a genuine "pizza napoletana". Below we have reported some of these trattorias tested and recommended by us. Clicking on the name it will open the website of the restaurant (in italian).

Naples is a city rich of history, art and culture. Without pretending to replace a guide book we mention some less known sites and events, in our opinion, not to be missed. Some very close to B and B, some farther but within easy reach. Clicking on the name it will open the webpage of the site/event.

  • The  Cemetery of Fontanelle: the magic and the mystery of a beautiful place far from the tourist routes.
  • Church of Saint Anna dei Lombardi: a must due to the Vasari's Sacristy . A little hidden gem in city center and an undiscovered oasis of tranquility.
  • The north wharf of Bagnoli: a more than 800 meters long walk in the middle of the sea in one of the most fascinating and least visited places of the city.
  • Pietrarsa National Railway Museum: a journey through the time between the locomotives and trains which have united Italy from 1839 to the present day in a beautiful setting on the sea between Naples and Portici.
  • Procession of Saint Gennaro: the Saturday before the first Sunday in May, the bust of the  saint is carried in procession, together with other busts belonging to the Treasury of Saint Gennaro, from the Cathedral to the church of Santa Chiara, where usually the miracle of the liquefaction of Saint Gennaro's blood happens.
  • Church of Carmine Maggiore: unique and wonderful example of Neapolitan Baroque to visit on the steps of Masaniello and Corradino of Svevia. On July 15 of each year "the fire of the bell tower": fireworks in a genuine and popular contest.
